About the Library

The library serves as the intellectual heart and central knowledge hub of the Agnel Technical Education Complex, offering a sanctuary where ideas and insights are preserved and shared. We empower both students and faculty by adopting a student-centric approach, delivering high-quality knowledge and applications across diverse platforms.

Location: Second Floor, Main Building, Agnel Technical Education Complex.

Library Reading Hall

Core Functions: The library is responsible for the acquisition, collection, development, storage, and dissemination of resources, actively supporting users in their academic and extracurricular pursuits.

Library Services and Sections

Open-Access Reference Section

The reference section is designed for maximum utility and accommodates up to 80 students simultaneously. It comprises:

  • Books Section
  • Periodicals Section
  • Project Report Section
  • Newspaper Section
  • Indian Standards Section

Multimedia Section

This section comprises ten dedicated personal computers for students to access the institute's subscribed electronic resources exclusively for academic purposes.

  • E-Resources: Includes e-journals and e-books from packages such as ProQuest and EBSCO e-books.
  • Access: Bookmarks are established on each computer for quick access to these digital resources.

Reference Services

We maintain a comprehensive reference collection, including resources for competitive exams, encyclopedias, dictionaries, and communication skills manuals.

  • Lending Rule: Reference textbooks are issued only after 4:00 PM and must be returned the following morning.

Library Automation

The library is fully automated using the KOHA software platform (version 18.11.02.000). Book transactions, cataloguing, and report generation are executed efficiently using barcoded student ID cards and book labels.

Note: The library is closed every second and fourth Saturday, Sundays, and on public holidays. The extended reading hall on the first floor is available to students and faculty.

Library Rules

Essential Library Rules - To ensure a productive and respectful environment for all users, students must adhere to the following rules while utilising library facilities:

  • Students must wear their Identity Card while using any library services.
  • Bags are not permitted in the main reading area. Students are advised not to store valuables in their bags at the baggage counter. The library staff will not be responsible for any loss, damage, or exchange.
  • Readers are advised not to mark, cut, or cause any damage to library resources in any manner. Individuals found to be engaging in such activities will be liable for the full replacement cost of the resources. Borrowed books must be kept safe from rain, dust, insects, and similar hazards.
  • Students are required to return all books by the stipulated due date. A fine of Rs.5 per day will be levied for any books returned after the deadline. Additionally, a fine of ₹10 per day will be imposed for books returned more than 10 days past the due date.
  • Issued books may be renewed for an additional period of up to seven days, subject to a maximum of three renewals, provided there is no demand for the books.
  • Books in demand are not renewable.
  • Students are not permitted to issue books for others under their name..
  • All users are requested to keep their mobile devices turned off or in silent mode within the library. Absolute silence shall be strictly maintained in the premises.
  • No food items are permitted within the library premises, except drinking water.
  • Students are expected to maintain courtesy towards library staff. Engaging in disputes with staff may result in disciplinary measures.
  • Any mishandling of library infrastructure will result in strict disciplinary measures.
