Agnel Movement

The Agnel Movement

A vision to promote love and understanding among diverse communities in India, as well as to contribute to development and self-reliance through education, was realized when, on the 9th of June 1957, the Fr. Agnel Ashram was founded at Land's End, Bandra, Mumbai.

Under the inspiration and guidance of the founder, Fr C. Rodrigues, and a dedicated group of individuals, the movement commenced with an orphanage and a trade school specialising in carpentry. Currently, this movement has evolved from a modest beginning into a global family. Under the auspices of the Agnel Ashram Fathers, it encompasses fully-fledged schools, industrial training centres, polytechnics, engineering colleges at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, law college and a School of Management. Its reach has expanded to include extensive technical complexes located in Bandra, Mumbai; Verna, Goa; New Delhi; Noida; Ambernath; Vashi, Navi Mumbai; and additional locations in Pune.

This movement affirms the belief that the school is an extension of "home sweet home." Currently, this extensive Agnel Ashram Family consists of over 30,000 students. Gradually, their parents, siblings, close family members, and friends are also becoming part of this community. Consequently, a substantial congregation of over 69,00,000 dedicated compatriots of India has formed- individuals who not only cultivate a sense of love and pride for our Motherland but also experience the joy of being unique elements of 'VASUDHAIVA' KUTUMBAKAM".

The Agnel Technical College was established in 1969, initially offering a Diploma in Production Engineering at Bandra, Mumbai. Subsequently, in response to a request from the Government of India, Father Agnel Ashram expanded its operations concurrently to New Delhi and Verna in Goa 1979.

Considering the continuously increasing demand for technical proficiency within the industrial sector, the Ashram Fathers established an additional branch in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, the nation's industrial and financial hub. The complex initially included schools offering instruction in English and Marathi in 1982, and commenced the construction of a Technical Complex in 1983. Although on June 22, 1984, the Agnel Ashram fraternity mourned the loss of its visionary founder, Fr. C. Rodrigues, he had established a dynamic movement. In addition to the schools and Junior College, this complex now accommodates the Agnel Polytechnic, Fr. C. Rodrigues Institute of Technology (Engineering College), Agnel School of Law and the Fr. C. Rodrigues Institute of Management Studies, which commenced operations in the academic year 2001-2002.

In the year 1985-86, Agnel Ashram Fathers, a group of catholic priests and brothers along with some well educated, dedicated, zealous and highly professional co - workers started Agnel Community Polytechnics. This project was sponsored by the ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India for the purpose of upliftment of the downtrodden rural population. Today, these community polytechnics train around 1000 students a year.

In June 2000 an Agnel Ashram institute was started in Greater Noida (near New Delhi) and in September 2000 the foundation of yet another Agnel Ashram Institute was laid in Pune. A third centre in the suburbs of the industrial and financial capital was opened at Ambernath in the year 2001 and in order to provide value addition to the students, a Business School was added at the Vashi complex in the same year.

Thus, starting with the preschool level this movement seeks to touch the lives of students, right up to graduation and post graduation levels, in such a way that every student entrusted to the care of Agnel Ashram Fathers' Institution grows into a balanced, versatile and courageous individual who has the physical, emotional and spiritual strength to face the challenges of life.

Philosophy

FCRIMS has established a comprehensive infrastructure that exceeds those of most institutions in facilitating an environment conducive to teaching and learning. At FCRIMS, the educational focus is directed toward sensitizing students to real-world issues and fostering their capacity to become leaders in their respective fields.
We derive our strength from our teaching methodology. We uphold the principle of "precaptor precaptoris," meaning one who guides you by the hand. The goal of every member of our team is to raise awareness and discuss various issues with students, to be approachable, to expose them to all aspects of the prescribed syllabus, and thereby to unite students from diverse backgrounds onto a common platform of business management.

Although our course content aligns with that of other institutions affiliated with Mumbai University, our methodology in imparting knowledge to our students distinguishes us. In the contemporary corporate environment, the differentiating factor that sets an individual apart is rooted in their attitude, resilience, capacity to thrive in adversity, communication skills, strong business ethics, and above all, self-confidence and personal conviction. Our unwavering dedication to our students drives us to establish an environment conducive to the development of their latent talents.

Finally, at FCRIMS, students are educated about the significance of lifelong learning, even as they mature into assertive and confident professionals. They are provided with a positive and conducive learning environment, which enhances their capacity for swift decision-making. Consequently, they enter the corporate realm not only with confidence but also with humility, grounded in value-based principles development.
